According to data released by the Kashmir Media Service on June 9, paramilitary, Indian troops, and police personnel, as well as sleuths from the feared National Investigation Agency (NIA) and State Investigation Agency (SIA), arrested over 2,500 Kashmiris during cordon and search operations and house raids.

Yasmeen Raja, Zamrooda Habib, Bilal Siddiqi, and journalist Irfan Mehraj are among those detained.

The Indian authorities imposed black laws such as the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) and the Public Safety Act (PSA) on many of the detainees on the basis of their struggle for the right to self-determination guaranteed to the people of Kashmir by the United Nations (UN) in several resolutions. They have been detained in several IIOJK jails. — APP
