ISLAMABAD: During the month of April, Indian troops in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) continued their campaign of state terrorism, resulting in the martyrdom of eight Kashmiris, including a young boy.

According to data released by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, five of the martyrs were killed in fake encounters or while in custody of Indian forces.

In addition to the killings, Indian security forces, including the Indian Army, Central Reserve Police Force, National Investigation Agency, and State Investigation Agency, arrested 205 civilians.

Among those detained were Hurriyet leader Firdous Ahmed Shah, political activists, youth, and students. Many of the arrested individuals were charged under draconian laws such as the Unlawful Activities Prevention Act (UAPA) and Public Safety Act (PSA).

The grim statistics underscore the ongoing brutality faced by Kashmiris in IIOJK, with over 96,300 Kashmiris martyred since January 1989. Despite decades of oppression, the Kashmiri people’s resolve for freedom remains unbroken, with Indian atrocities only serving to strengthen their determination.

The international community is urged to intervene to address the political injustices and tyranny faced by the people of IIOJK and to resolve the longstanding Kashmir dispute in accordance with United Nations resolutions.

Meanwhile, more than five thousand Hurriyat leaders, activists, youth, students, Ulemas, journalists, and human rights defenders, including prominent figures like APHC Chairman Masarrat Aalam Butt and journalist Aasif Sultan, remain incarcerated in various jails across India and IIOJK. Their continued detention highlights the ongoing human rights violations in the region.
