ISLAMABAD: The Indian government’s failure to deliver justice in the Samjhauta Express terrorist attack, despite 17 years having passed since the tragic incident, remains a glaring injustice to the victims and their families.

On February 18, 2007, 68 individuals, predominantly Pakistanis, lost their lives in bomb blasts targeting the Samjhauta Express, a cross-border train service between Pakistan and India, as highlighted in a report released today by Kashmir Media Service.

The report unequivocally asserts that the bombs were planted by Hindutva terrorists with the complicity of Indian secret agencies, underscoring a disturbing nexus between extremist elements and state actors. Despite compelling evidence implicating these perpetrators, the Indian government persists in denying justice to the victims’ families, revealing a systemic failure to address the heinous act and hold the responsible individuals accountable.

The recent acquittal of four suspects involved in the blasts underscores the alarming impunity enjoyed by Hindutva extremists under the Modi-led BJP/RSS/VHP and Bajrang Dal government in India. This acquittal, despite the well-established connections of the accused to extremist Hindu groups, reflects a deliberate state policy aimed at shielding Hindutva terrorists from prosecution and perpetuating a culture of impunity.

The report’s findings shed light on the broader pattern of false flag operations orchestrated by Indian secret agencies, such as RAW, to vilify Pakistan on the international stage. It is evident that the Samjhauta Express bombing, like previous incidents, was a calculated attempt to malign Pakistan and further the agenda of Hindutva extremists.

The acquittal of individuals with clear Hindutva affiliations raises serious questions about the integrity of India’s judicial system and its commitment to upholding the rule of law. Despite the confession of a Hindu extremist leader, Swami Aseeman, implicating himself in the attack, the court’s decision reflects a troubling trend of prioritizing political interests over justice.

It is imperative for the international community and peace-loving nations to recognize the inherent threat posed by the RSS-backed Hindutva BJP government to regional and global peace. The Indian government’s failure to address the root causes of extremism and its complicity in protecting perpetrators of terrorist acts undermine efforts to foster stability and harmony in the region.

The report calls for a comprehensive investigation into the Samjhauta Express bombing and the prosecution of all individuals involved, regardless of their political or religious affiliations. Only through accountability and transparency can justice be served and the wounds of the victims and their families begin to heal.
