ISLAMABAD: The Indian Prime Minister (PM), Narendra Modi has barred scholarships for Muslim students studying at madaris all over India.

As per the reports of Indian media, Ministry for Minority Affairs, Smriti Irani has proposed the suspension of stipends to students enrolled at religious madaris in India.

Madaris Students Scholarships

Smriti Irani said that education in classes 1 to 8 is already free all over India. He added that along with free education, students of these classes also receive necessary items such as free meals and books. Each student from classes 1 to 5 enrolled in the Madaris received Rs. 1,000, while students from classes 6 to 8 were given scholarships depending on their subjects. Therefore, the scholarships for these students have been suspended. Classes 9 and 10 students will receive stipends, and only their applications have been forwarded.
