MUMBAI: In a shocking incident that sent shockwaves across the country, an Indian Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable carried out a horrific shooting spree, resulting in the death of four individuals, including his senior officer.

The incident took place on the Jaipur-Mumbai Central Express near Palghar railway station in Maharashtra state.

The constable responsible for this heinous act has been identified as Chetan Kumar Choudhary. Armed with an automatic weapon, he unleashed a barrage of bullets that claimed the lives of an RPF Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) and three innocent passengers. According to official reports, the constable began the onslaught by opening fire on his escort duty in-charge, ASI Tika Ram Meena, who was on board the running train at the time, according to Kashmir Media Service.

Tragically, the violence didn’t stop there. After fatally shooting his senior officer, Constable Choudhary proceeded to another section of the train, where he ruthlessly shot dead three unsuspecting passengers. The motive behind this devastating act of violence remains unclear, leaving many in shock and disbelief.

The constable’s attempt to flee the scene between Mira Road and Dahisar was thwarted when he was nabbed by vigilant personnel from the Government Railway Police (GRP). The weapon used in the crime was also seized.

In the aftermath of this horrific event, the accused constable was taken into custody by the Mira Road railway police. His arrest will likely aid in the ongoing investigation to understand the motives and circumstances leading to this senseless act of violence.
