Indian Sikh Pilgrims Join Guru Nanak’s Birth Anniversary Celebrations in Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: Three thousand Sikh pilgrims who have arrived in Lahore via Wagah will join the 554th birth anniversary celebrations in Nankana Sahib.

The three-day celebrations started on Saturday, and Sikhs from India were taken to Farooqabad by special buses amid tight security on Sunday to pay homage to the founder of the Sikh religion.

They were brought back in the evening to stay here at Gurudwara Janam Asthan.

The celebrations, which commenced on Saturday with the ritual of Akhandpat, will conclude on Monday with the Bhog. The Nagar Keertan rally will also be taken out on Monday.

Sikh Pilgrims Meet CM Punjab

Meanwhile, the pilgrims called on caretaker Chief Minister Punjab Mohsin Naqvi here on Sunday. They thanked the chief minister for the hospitality and arrangements for Sikh pilgrims. The yatrees were grateful to the Pakistan government for the care it takes to protect and preserve the Sikh holy sites.

DPO Saaed Aziz is heading a three thousand-strong force that is performing security duty in Nankana Sahib and the surrounding areas.

The government makes special arrangements for the birth and death anniversary of Guru Nanak, as his birthplace and eternal resting site are in Pakistan.
