ISLAMABAD: India has been accused of treating the people of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) as a colony since 1947, violating international laws, the subcontinent’s partition plan, and the Kashmiris’ will.

According to a report by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service, India’s illegal move on August 5, 2019, to repeal the special status of IIOJK was another violation of international law, signaling its agenda of colonizing Kashmir.

The report highlights the efforts of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to change the demography of Jammu and Kashmir, erode its identity, culture, and exploit its resources.

The BJP regime, as per the report, is actively engaged in a settler-colonial project in IIOJK by acquiring more land from Kashmiris to settle non-Kashmiri Hindus in the region. These actions, described as clear violations of United Nations resolutions, are seen as an attempt to alter the demographic composition of the internationally recognized disputed territory. The report emphasizes the need for the international community to fulfill its responsibilities and take notice of Prime Minister Modi’s alleged designs to change the demography of the occupied territory.

As Kashmiris continue their determined resistance against India’s settler-colonial project in IIOJK, the report urges the global community to be vigilant and address the nefarious agendas impacting the region’s demographic, cultural, and socio-political landscape.
