BAKU, Azerbaijan: In a letter directed to both the UN and the UN Security Council, Iran’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the UN, Amir Saeid Iravani, emphasized Iran’s stance regarding any potential conflict with Israel. Iravani underscored that Iran has never harbored intentions of initiating warfare against Israel and firmly stated that such intentions do not exist in the country’s future plans.

Furthermore, Iravani highlighted Iran’s adherence to international law, asserting that the nation believes it holds the right to respond to any actions that threaten its sovereignty, territorial integrity, security, and national interests.

The letter comes in the wake of recent tensions between Iran and Israel, particularly following an incident on April 13, when Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched a missile attack on Israel, citing retaliation for an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus. This marked a significant escalation in hostilities between the two nations, with Iran subsequently declaring an end to the operation against Israel on April 14.

Additionally, on April 19, Iran reported the detection of drones over Isfahan, prompting the activation of its air defense system, which successfully intercepted and destroyed the drones. These events have heightened concerns about the potential for further escalation in the region.
