VIENNA:  The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) has said that it could confirm that there has been no damage to Iran’s nuclear sites, a statement said on Friday.

In a statement, IAEA head Rafael Grossi continues to call for extreme restraint from everyone and reiterates that nuclear facilities should never be a target in conflicts.

Earlier, the Iranian state-run channel Press TV reported that there was “no sign of blast or damage” at a nuclear site near Isfahan, Iran. The report of the television did not identify the site, but Iran’s major nuclear facility is located in Natanz, a city north of Isfahan.  The Natanz site has earlier been attacked by sabotage strike, Iranian media reported. It added that a “controlled” blast was also reported in the same areas in 2021.

The US has received advance notice of Israel’s reported attack on Iranian city Isfahan but did not endorse the operation or play any part in its implementation, US media cited officials as saying. CNN and NBC quoting sources familiar with the matter and a US official, respectively, stated Israel had provided the US with pre-notification of the attack.

Israel launched a missile strike against a site in Iran, US broadcaster ABC News claimed on Friday. Iran’s semi-official Fars news agency also reported blasts in Isfahan with official TV reporting flights in several cities have been postponed.

On the other hand, Iranian officials said they shot down several drones and that there had been “no missile strike for now” on Iran, after blasts were heard near Isfahan.

On the other hand, Iranian media dismissed claims that Iran had been attacked from abroad following several drones were shot down and blasts heard in city of Isfahan. Tasnim news agency cited sources as saying that there were no reports of a strike from abroad against Isfahan or any other areas of Iran.
