DOHA: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amirabdollahian, on Monday said that the only thing Iran and Israel share is that both do not believe in a two-state solution.

Speaking through translation at an international forum in Doha, the Iranian Foreign Minister said that both Iran and Israel do not subscribe to the idea of a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

During the forum, the Iranian Foreign Minister reiterated Iran’s proposal for a referendum to determine the fate of Palestine. He suggested that only the descendants of people who lived in the region before 1948 should be allowed to vote in such a referendum.

This proposal starkly contrasts with the international consensus, which generally supports the establishment of a separate Palestinian state alongside Israel.
