IRSA Releases Significant Water Flow Across Indus River System

ISLAMABAD: The Indus River System Authority (IRSA) took action on Wednesday, releasing a substantial volume of water across various rim stations. With an inflow of 187,200 cusecs, IRSA released 152,700 cusecs of water to manage the flow effectively.

At Tarbela Dam, the water level in the River Indus stood at 1467.63 feet, marking a significant increase of 53.63 feet above its dead level of 1,398 feet. Meanwhile, the dam witnessed an inflow of 38,100 cusecs and an outflow of 20,000 cusecs.

Similarly, at Mangla Dam, the water level in the River Jhelum reached 1167.60 feet, surpassing its dead level by 117.60 feet. The inflow and outflow were reported at 61,400 cusecs and 45,000 cusecs, respectively.

In addition to Tarbela and Mangla Dams, water was released at various other points along the river system. Notably, Kalabagh, Taunsa, Guddu, and Sukkur registered releases of 84,900, 58,200, 49,500, and 11,100 cusecs, respectively. Furthermore, significant water discharges were observed from the River Kabul, with 62,900 cusecs released at Nowshera, and from River Chenab, where 15,600 cusecs were released at Marala.
