NEW YORK: Amid circulating rumors on social media platforms, tech giant Google has firmly denied speculations suggesting the closure of its popular email service, Gmail.

The rumors gained traction after an unverified screenshot of an email allegedly from Google surfaced on social media, indicating an imminent end to Gmail services. However, Google has clarified that the screenshot was misinterpreted, as it pertained to the removal of the basic HTML view rather than the closure of Gmail itself.

The misrepresented message led to false information being spread about Gmail’s discontinuation, causing confusion among users. This misinformation was exacerbated by previous announcements from Google regarding the discontinuation of some of its less-used services.

Google Responds to Rumors

In response to the circulating rumors, Google emphasized that Gmail remains an integral part of its suite of services and is not slated for closure. The company reiterated its commitment to Gmail, affirming its continued availability to users.

While Google has acknowledged the discontinuation of certain products in the past, including those listed on its “killed by Google” page, it has clarified that Gmail is not among the services slated for closure.

Amidst the proliferation of fake posts and rumors, Google has assured users that Gmail is indeed “here to stay.”
