ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday appointed Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar as the country’s Deputy Prime Minister, the foreign office announced on Sunday.
The announcement was made in a post on X— formerly known as Twitter— by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) leader is currently serving as the foreign minister.
Ishaq Dar has earlier served as the finance minister in the previous governments of PML-N.
Cabinet Division Issues Notification of Ishaq Dar’s Appointment
Later, the Cabinet Division also issued the notification of Ishaq Dar’s appointment as the deputy prime minister.
The notification read that Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif has been pleased to designate Ishaq Dar, Federal Minister for Foreign Affairs, as Deputy Prime Minister with immediate effect and until further orders.
