Ishaq Dar to Lead Pakistan Delegation to 15th OIC Summit: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will lead the Pakistan delegation at the upcoming the 15th OIC Summit, a foreign office statement said on Wednesday.  The summit will be held in Banjul, the Gambia on 4-5 May 2024.

In a press statement, Pakistan Foreign Office said that Ishaq Dar will attend the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers’ Meeting preceding the Summit on 2-3 May 2024 where the Ministers will hold talks to finalize the agenda and outcome documents for the Summit.

The Summit is being summoned at a critical time for the Muslim Ummah as the war Gaza continues unabated. The statement added that it would be a significant occasion for the OIC leaders to deliberate upon the dire situation in the Gaza Strip and project a strong, collective and unified position on the Palestinian question.

It added that at the Summit, Ishaq Dar will speak regarding Islamabad’s perspective on the current genocide in Gaza, the right to self-determination of the people of Jammu and Kashmir, rising Islamophobia, issues of terrorism, imperatives of solidarity and unity of the Ummah, climate change, and other contemporary international challenges. He will also underline the need to find collective solutions to challenges confronting the Muslim Ummah, the statement maintained.

The statement further said that on the sidelines, the Deputy Prime Minister will also hold bilateral meetings with leaders and Foreign Ministers participating in the OIC Summit.
