Islamabad in Contact with Washington over Energy Needs: FO

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Foreign Office spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch has said that Pakistan was in contact with the US about the country’s needs for energy.

She expressed these remarks during her weekly media briefing in Islamabad. She said that she had seen the US’s remarks on Pakistan’s willingness to get energy from Tehran.

Baloch maintained that cooperation for trade on preferential basis was present between Islamabad and Tehran to fulfil the former’s crucial necessities. The spokesperson said that during President Raisi’s visit, the matter of Pakistan-Iran gas pipeline was also discussed and it was also reflected in the joint statement later. Both nations cogitated about electricity and energy trade, she maintained.

Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said that Pakistan discussed the trade route between Chabahar and Gwadar ports with the Iranian leader. She stated that the bilateral ties between Iran and Pakistan were robust.

As for Israel’s atrocities in Palestine, she said Islamabad rapped Israel’s atrocities and demanded international probe. She said Iran and Pakistan had the same stance on the issue of Kashmir and Gaza.
