ISLAMABAD: The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has said that Wednesday (today) will be the last date for candidates contesting LG elections in Islamabad to withdraw their nomination papers.

According to the ECP, polling for Islamabad local government will be held on December 31.
Candidates will kick start the election campaign from December 1 after the nomination papers were withdrawn by the uncontested candidates.
Returning Officers have so far accepted nomination papers of 1,773 candidates, of the 4,403 aspirants who had filed nomination papers for local government elections to be held in 101 union councils (UCs) of the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The ECP has appointed four additional sessions judges as appellate authorities to take up cases related to polling in 101 UCs.
