ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad, Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, announced on Monday that the Capital police had initiated an aggressive campaign to implement a zero-tolerance policy against street crimes and drug abusers.

In a statement to a private news channel, IGP Rizvi expressed the commitment of the capital police to enhance their performance and introduce innovative measures to improve the overall law and order situation. He emphasized focusing on hotspots to effectively curb street crimes.

IGP Rizvi urged citizens to report any misconduct by police officers, emphasizing that such behavior would not be tolerated within the police force. He proposed the initiation of a seven-day special campaign to eliminate crimes, with a particular focus on targeting criminal groups and intensifying crackdowns on drug trafficking. Additionally, a special campaign against professional beggars will be launched.

Responding to queries, IGP Rizvi highlighted the launch of a special awareness campaign titled “Nasha Ab Nahe” (No More Addiction) by Islamabad Police. This initiative aims to eradicate narcotics from the federal capital and protect the youth from the dangers of drug abuse. Police officers are conducting awareness drives in educational institutions to educate students about the hazards of narcotics and preventive measures.

IGP Rizvi emphasized the need for the youth to actively participate in the anti-drug drive, particularly highlighting the prevalence of drug use, especially hashish and ice, in schools and colleges.

Furthermore, he stated that Capital Police is devising an action plan against the drug mafia and has initiated a grand operation against individuals involved in criminal activities. He termed drug use and trafficking as a curse and emphasized the importance of collective efforts from all stakeholders to combat the menace effectively.

Finally, IGP Rizvi called for organizing awareness campaigns against narcotics through seminars and workshops to mobilize public support in the fight against drug abuse.
