Israel Has Not Received Everything It Demanded: Top US General

WASHINGTON: A top general of the United States on Thursday said that Israel had not received every weapon it has asked for.

General Charles Q. Brown, the chairman of the US Joint Chiefs of Staff said Although the US has been supporting Israel with capability, but the country has not received everything it asked for.

He said this while speaking at an event hosted by the Defense Writers Group.

“Some of that is because they’ve asked for stuff that we either don’t have the capacity to provide or not willing to provide, not right now,” Brown said.

The US annualy gives $3.8 billion military assistance to Israel. The United States has been providing air defenses and munitions to Israel, but some Arab American groups and Democrats and have denounced the Biden administration’s unwavering support to Israel.

A spokesperson for Brown later on Thursday said General’s remarks were in reference to a standard procedure before providing military assistance to any of the US allies and partners.

Captain Jereal Dorsey in a statement said the government assess stockpiles and any possible impact on its own readiness to evaluate its ability to provide the requested military aid.

He said the United States continues to give security assistance to Israel.

According to health authorities in Gaza, more than 32,000 Palestinians have been killed in the besieged enclave by Israel’s devastating offensive.

US Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin earlier met with Israel Defense Minister Yoav Gallant in Washington and discussed security assistance to Israel.
