Italian Ambassador Calls on Pakistan’s PM, Discuss Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Italian Ambassador to Pakistan Marilina Armellin paid a courtesy call on Pakistan’s Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif at the PM House on Monday.

Welcoming the ambassador, the prime minister said that Pakistan deeply valued its multifaceted ties with Italy spanning over many decades, which had always been marked by goodwill and trust.

He said that the two sides also shared similar views on a number of important regional and international issues, according to a statement released by the PM Office.

Thanking the Italian leadership for the felicitation message that he received on his re-election, the prime minister conveyed his sincere commitment to work closely with Italy to further cement bilateral relations in the days ahead.

Emphasizing the significance of high-level exchanges, he extended a cordial invitation to Prime Minister of Italy Giorgia Meloni to undertake an official visit to Pakistan.

PM Appreciates Italian Prime Minister’s Policies

PM Shehbaz Sharif conveyed his appreciation for Meloni’s policies at home and abroad that had made Italy an important member of the EU.

Expressing satisfaction over the positive trajectory of Pakistan-Italy bilateral ties, he urged the two sides to enhance cooperation in the fields of education, legal migration, trade and investment, as well as cultural exchanges. He thanked Italy for hosting a large population of Pakistani diaspora who were acting as a bridge between both nations while also contributing to their economic growth.

The envoy thanked the prime minister for receiving her and assured him that Italy was keen to further enhance its relations with Pakistan.

The ambassador added that she would strive to promote stronger ties between the two countries.
