Italy Marks 75 Years of Diplomatic Ties with Pakistan by Establishing ITA Office in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Celebrating a robust 75-year history of diplomatic relations between Italy and Pakistan, a significant milestone was achieved with the inauguration of an Italian Trade Agency (ITA) office in Pakistan, announced Italian Ambassador to Pakistan, Andreas Ferrarese. The establishment of ITA in Islamabad marks a new chapter in bilateral trade collaboration, aiming to bolster economic ties between the two nations.

The Italian Trade Agency (ITA) is a governmental entity dedicated to supporting the international business development of Italian companies and encouraging foreign investment in Italy. With a modern and motivated organizational structure and a global network of overseas offices, ITA provides essential services to Italian small and medium-sized businesses, offering information, assistance, consulting, promotion, and training. ITA employs state-of-the-art multi-channel promotion and communication tools to showcase the excellence of ‘Made in Italy’ products worldwide.

Ambassador Ferrarese expressed his enthusiasm about this collaboration, stating, “I have been working side by side with the Italian Institute of Commerce, now known as ITA. The mission of this forum is to promote bilateral trade with other countries.” He highlighted the agency’s role in trade diplomacy, providing technical support and aiding the embassy in crafting effective trade strategies.

Trade Relations Between Pakistan and Italy

The newly established ITA office in Islamabad will have an experienced and highly professional individual dedicated to strengthening trade relations between Italy and Pakistan.

Commissioner for Trade Salvatore Parano expressed optimism about the growing bilateral relations, citing a substantial increase in Pakistan’s exports to the Italian market, exceeding one billion dollars. He emphasized that ITA Islamabad would play a pivotal role in facilitating the expansion of bilateral trade between the two nations.

“This involved offering valuable data, coordinating missions, conducting B2B interactions, facilitating matchmaking between businesses, and actively promoting foreign investments” he added. – APP
