TOKYO: Japanese police arrested an individual on Thursday after a car crash near the Israeli embassy in Tokyo, according to local media.
Video footage depicted a compact car colliding with a fence at an intersection around 100 metres (109 yards) from the embassy.
Media also reported that one police officer sustained minor injuries.
The footage showed that the car had also crashed through a temporary barrier near the fence.
The person arrested on the spot is a member of a right-wing group, the reports said.
A fire department spokesman confirmed the receipt of an emergency call (for an ambulance) at 11.57 am, citing the location as 3-11 Nibancho, Chiyoda ward.
Police refrained from providing comments and the Israeli embassy could not be reached.
