WASHINGTON: In a surprising turn for the Scream franchise, Jenna Ortega, a main player in the success of Scream VI, has chosen not to take part in the upcoming movie, Western media reported on Thursday.
As per media reports, this decision follows the latest removal of actress Melissa Barrera, who faced reaction for a social media post critical of Israel.
However, Jenna Ortega’s departure is also reported to be linked to scheduling issues. However, fans express disappointment, with one social media post declaring, “As far as I am concerned, this is the flawless ending for the scream franchise #JusticeForMelissaBarrera #MelissaBarrera #scream7.”

Earlier, actress Melissa Barrera has been fired from the upcoming Scream movie sequel after its makers claimed she had posted pro-Palestinian social media posts. The actress has posted often about war on Gaza, including resharing one post that alleged Israel of ” ethnic cleansing and genocide”. Production company admitted that it had fired the actress form the film. Barrera has been vocal regarding her support for the people of Palestine on social media and described Israel as committing genocide of people of Palestine, and “brutally killing innocent people, children and mothers, under the pretense of finishing Hamas.”
In another development, Susan Sarandon has also been dropped by her Hollywood agency following speaking at a pro-Palestinian protest. However, Sarandon and Mexican actress Barrera have not yet commented on their situations after their removal.
