MIRPUR: The Acting Chairman of the Yaseen Malik Group of Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Raja Muzaffarates, has urged India to promptly hand over the mortal remains of the renowned Kashmiri freedom fighter leader, Shaheed Maqbool Butt, to his family for a proper burial in Mazar-e-Shuhada in occupied Srinagar.

Shaheed Kashmiri Muhammad Maqbool Butt was executed in New Delhi’s Tihar jail on February 11, 1984, for his significant role in the Kashmir liberation movement, aiming to free the homeland from unlawful Indian occupation. He was buried within the premises of the notorious jail.

In a telephonic interview with the Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) on Friday, on the eve of the scheduled 40th martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Maqbool Butt on February 11, Raja Muzaffar paid heartfelt tribute to both martyred Kashmiri leaders, emphasizing their sacrifice for the noble cause of liberating the motherland from Indian oppression. “Shaheed Maqbool Butt was the principal and profound leader of the freedom movement, and his lifetime unprecedented contribution towards the freedom struggle was remarkable and unforgettable,” he further stated.

Muzaffar highlighted that alongside his organization, the US-based Kashmiri diaspora community would commemorate the martyrdom anniversary of the eminent leader of the Kashmir freedom struggle, Maqbool Butt Shahed, on February 11 with solemnity and reverence, renewing the pledge to continue the struggle for freedom of occupied Kashmir until its logical end.

Raja Muzaffar reiterated his demand for the disclosure of the whereabouts of missing Kashmiris who disappeared in the custody of Indian occupational forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

He drew attention to the plight of the people in IIOJK, enduring 76 years of suffering under siege in the presence of over one million Indian occupational forces.

Muzaffar underscored that thousands of innocent Kashmiris in IIOJK were missing, with their relatives fearing they were killed in the custody of Indian occupying security forces, as numerous unnamed graves have been discovered over the years.
