Jordan’s King Discusses Gaza with Egyptian, Iraqi, Palestinian Leaders

AMMAN: Jordan’s King Abdullah II on Wednesday held phone talks with Egyptian, Iraqi, and Palestinian leaders to discuss the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, and ways to strengthen bilateral ties.

The king and the leaders on the occasion also exchanged Eid Al-Fitr greetings.

According to a statement, King Abdullah received a call from President of Egypt Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, who expressed his sincere wishes for the well-being of Jordan and its people, and progress and prosperity of the country.

The Prime Minister of Iraq Mohammed Al-Sudani also made a call to King Abdullah to discuss developments in the region, especially the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in Gaza.

The statement from Iraqi media saud both leaders called for an end to the genocide and for the global community to step forward and play a role to stopping the violence and delivering humanitarian aid.

Iraq’s President Abdul Latif Rashid also called the Jordanian king, and discussed ways to enhance bilateral ties and work to strengthen cooperation in various fields.

The Jordanian King during an interaction on Phone with the Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas was briefed on the latest developments regarding the ongoing Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip.

Abbas stressed the significance of the entry of humanitarian relief and medical assistance; preventing the displacement of people; and stopping the Israeli escalation in the West Bank, including Jerusalem.

He also noted the importance of Palestine attaining the full membership of the United Nations.

King Abdullah reiterated Jordan’s support for the Palestinian people until they achieved their legitimate rights and established an independent state, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
