JUI-F Decides to Actively Participate in Upcoming General Elections

PESHAWAR: The Central General Council meeting of Jamiat Ulama-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) on Monday decided to actively participate in the upcoming general elections and directed its district organizations to present final recommendations of candidates for National and Provincial Assembly constituencies till 27 November.

The two-day meeting of the Central General Council concluded at Mufti Mahmood Markaz with JUI-F Central Ameer Maulana Fazlur Rehman in the chair.

Besides, central secretary general Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri, Akram Khan Durrani, Maulana Amjad Khan Lahori, Mufti Rozi Khan, Maulana Abdul Wasi (Ameer JUI-F Balochistan), Maulana Mahmood Shah (general secretary), Maulana Abdul Qayyum Halijvi (Sindh), Maulana Qamaruddin, Maulana Fazal Ali Haqqani, Mohammad Aslam Ghauri, Maulana Rashid Mahmood Soomro (Sindh), Hafiz Naseer Ahrar, and other leaders were present in the meeting.

The council elected Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri as central Ameer and general secretary of the party, respectively, for another 5-year tenure.

The meeting also authorized the party’s district chapters to work out seat adjustment with other political parties in consultations with office bearers.

During the meeting, Maulana Fazlur Rehman briefed the participants about his meetings during the trip to Qatar.

The provincial organizations of the party presented performance and political situation-based reports over which the council expressed satisfaction.

JUI-F to Take Put Pro-Palestine Rallies

The meeting, while expressing serious concern over the atrocities of Israel against innocent Palestinians and daily incessant bombardment on schools, hospitals, and civilian population, announced to observe the upcoming Friday (24 November) as Solidarity Day with Palestinians.

It decided to take out solidarity rallies with Palestine in district headquarters across the country.

Addressing the concluding session, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said they would participate in the polls despite specific reservations.
