SRINAGAR: Dr. Mubeen Shah, a prominent Kashmiri leader currently residing in exile in Istanbul, has urged the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to implement sanctions against India due to its escalating human rights violations in the Indian Illegal Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).

In a statement issued to the media on Tuesday, Dr. Mubeen Shah underscored the necessity of addressing the Kashmir issue comprehensively, referencing the OIC’s resolution during the Islamabad summit.

He pointed out the lack of tangible progress despite previous resolutions and joint communique, which had called for bilateral engagements, visits to the disputed territory, and the establishment of a panel to explore peaceful resolutions.
Dr. Shah emphasized the importance of imposing economic sanctions, highlighting the apparent double standards of major powers and international forums.

Furthermore, he called for support for Kashmiris residing in OIC member countries, advocating for citizenship, employment opportunities, scholarships, and the freedom to raise awareness about the Kashmir conflict.

Dr. Shah concluded by stressing the imperative of countering India’s propaganda efforts in all forms and urged the international community to take decisive measures in supporting the Kashmiri people’s right to self-determination.
