SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and across the world will observe October 27 (today) as Black Day to convey a strong message to the world that they reject Indian illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

It was on 27th of October in 1947 when Indian troops invaded Jammu and Kashmir and occupied it in total violation of the partition plan of the subcontinent and against the aspirations of Kashmiri people. The All Parties Hurriyat Conference has given the call for observance of the day. It has also appealed for complete shutdown in Indian illegally-occupied Jammu and Kashmir today.

The APHC has also called upon the global community to wake up from deep slumber and take practical steps to hold a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir as per the United Nations Security Council resolutions to enable the Kashmiris exercise their right to self-determination.

The APHC leaders have said that India has been engaged in the genocide of Kashmiri people since 1947 when it illegally occupied the valley through fraud and force.

Posters have appeared in Srinagar and other parts of occupied Kashmir, urging people to observe shutdown on Friday against the illegal occupation of their motherland by India. The posters have also been shared on social media platforms.

In the region of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, a significant loss of life has been documented, with approximately 500,000 Kashmiri lives tragically lost, including more than 250,000 in the Jammu area. This solemn remembrance coincides with the 76th anniversary of the Indian Army’s occupation of this territory, which began on this day in 1947.

A recent report published by the Kashmir Media Service, recognized globally as Black Day, sheds light on the situation in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and wherever Kashmiris reside around the world. The report reveals that since October 27, 1947, over 3.5 million Kashmiris have been compelled to relocate to Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Pakistan, and various other parts of the world.

The Research Section of the Kashmir Media Service has meticulously compiled data from January 1989 through October 27, 2023, which paints a grim picture of the region:
