SRINAGAR: For more than seven decades, the Kashmiri people have endured relentless repression in their quest for justice and freedom from India’s grasp over their homeland, occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Since the deployment of Indian troops in Srinagar in 1947, the region has been engulfed in turmoil, exacerbated by the Modi government’s intensified crackdown on dissent, especially post-August 2019’s unilateral revocation of Kashmir’s special status.
Under Modi’s rule, Kashmiris face egregious human rights violations and discrimination akin to apartheid policies, enduring brutal repression by Indian forces.
Despite such adversities, Kashmiris persist in their resistance against Indian military oppression, steadfast in their pursuit of inherent rights and freedom.
Daily life in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) is fraught with oppression and bloodshed, as the international community’s silence emboldens the Indian government to escalate its repression.
Resolving the Kashmir dispute in accordance with internationally recognized justice norms is imperative to end the bloodshed and restore peace in the region.
