LONDON: As Prince William and Kate Middleton prepare to celebrate their 13th wedding anniversary on Monday, April 29, their plans for the special occasion have been laid bare amid the Princess’s ongoing cancer treatment.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams revealed that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are expected to observe the milestone “very differently” this year, given Kate’s health challenges.

Fitzwilliams emphasized that the couple would likely mark their anniversary privately, with Kate currently undergoing preventative chemotherapy following her recovery from abdominal surgery. This year’s commemoration is expected to diverge from previous celebrations due to the princess’s health concerns, underscoring the couple’s focus on supporting each other through difficult times.

Describing William and Kate’s relationship as one of shared values and mutual support, Fitzwilliams highlighted their dedication to parenthood and ensuring their children—Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis—experience as normal a childhood as possible. Despite the challenges they face, the couple remains steadfast in their commitment to each other and their family.

In light of Kate’s cancer battle, the princess has appealed for privacy and understanding during this challenging period, indicating that there is unlikely to be any public commemoration of their anniversary. The couple’s desire for solitude underscores their prioritization of Kate’s health and well-being as she undergoes treatment.

Reflecting on past anniversaries, Fitzwilliams noted that previous celebrations have been marked with joyful family moments, such as a delightful family video shared on their 10th anniversary and a happy photograph of the couple riding bicycles together last year. However, this year’s anniversary is expected to be a more subdued affair as the couple navigates Kate’s cancer journey.
