ISLAMABAD: Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Pakistan Yerzhan Kistafin on Monday paid a courtesy call to Pakistan’s Federal Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema to discuss bilateral relations and matters of mutual interest.
The meeting, attended by senior officials from both the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Pakistan, focused on strengthening bilateral ties between Pakistan and Kazakhstan.
Minister Cheema warmly welcomed the envoy, emphasizing the longstanding bonds of brotherhood, cultural affinity, and mutual respect shared between the two countries since the establishment of bilateral ties in February 1992.
He underlined the steady increase in bilateral trade volume, highlighting the need for further measures to fully tap into the existing trade potential between the two countries. He further stressed the significance of reciprocal visits by businessmen and investors to boost bilateral trade and investment opportunities.
Pakistan-Kazakhstan Cooperation
The envoy reaffirmed Kazakhstan’s unwavering commitment to collaborating with Pakistan in priority sectors such as trade, energy, agriculture, and regional connectivity.
He further underscored the successful 12th Session of the Pakistan-Kazakhstan Joint Intergovernmental Commission held in December last year in Astana, Kazakhstan. The Ambassador emphasized the significance of further enhancing cooperation to advance regional connectivity which will promote mutual prosperity and development for both nations.
The Minister appreciated the successful hosting of the 12th Session and said that the Joint Intergovernmental Commission forum will further fortify our shared vision of growth and prosperity.
While commending the signing of MoUs on Tourism and Culture during the Session of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission, he said that the people of Pakistan had a deep-rooted appreciation for the rich and diverse culture of Kazakhstan.
