LONDON: The forthcoming referendum in San Francisco, California, on January 28, 2024, is poised to become a significant moment in the Khalistan movement, following similar initiatives in Europe, Great Britain, Australia, and Canada.

Paramjit Singh Pama, the leader of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ) who narrowly survived an assassination attempt in Birmingham and is now provided with special protection by the British government, shared insights in an exclusive interview with WE News, shedding light on the significance of the Sikh community’s collective effort towards the pursuit of an independent Punjab.

Paramjit Singh Pama, a UK-based leader of Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), revealed the challenges faced by the Sikh leaders advocating for Khalistan, emphasizing the Indian government’s apprehension towards the global Khalistan referendum for Punjab’s independence.

In response to the threats from India, Paramjit Singh Pama stated, “The Sikh nation is not afraid of death. We have sacrificed around three lakh young men. The more we are oppressed, the stronger our freedom movement becomes. We challenge the Indian government to do as they wish; our quest for freedom will not be deterred, even after the establishment of Khalistan.”

Khalistan Referendum Exposes Indian Govt’s Narrative

The worldwide referendum for Khalistan has exposed the Indian government’s narrative that Punjab residents do not desire freedom. Paramjit Singh Pama asserted that Sikhs globally are united in their aspiration for independence, and attacks on Sikh leaders in Canada and the United States, orchestrated by Indian agencies, have heightened international awareness.

Official communication from the Canadian government to India indicates evidence linking the assassination of Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar to Indian agencies. The suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of Sikh leader Avtar Singh Khanda in Birmingham have prompted British investigative agencies to consider the potential involvement of the Indian secret agency RAW.

Paramjit Singh Pama underscored the positive impact of the Punjab independence referendum, stating that it has showcased the Sikh nation’s determination to move towards independence. With millions of Sikhs residing in America expected to cast their votes in favor of Punjab’s independence, the Khalistan Referendum in San Francisco is anticipated to be a crucial milestone in the ongoing Khalistan freedom movement.
