LONDON: King Charles of Britain is slated to make a visit to Australia later this year despite undergoing cancer treatment. This trip will mark King Charles’ first venture abroad since being diagnosed with cancer. According to a report from the Independent, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has confirmed the forthcoming visit, which will be the first by a reigning monarch since 2011.

Speaking on Sunday, Prime Minister Albanese stated, “The King has demonstrated his compassion for Australians affected by recent natural calamities, just as Australians have shown compassion and support for the ruler following his cancer diagnosis.”

Albanese further remarked, “The King, along with the Queen and other members of the royal family, are always welcomed in Australia.” Royal expert Lizzie Robinson also cited the Prime Minister’s assertion that “Australia is making arrangements for a likely visit from His Majesty The King later this year. My government is in discussions with states and territories regarding the possibilities for a royal visit.”

Additionally, the Mirror has confirmed that King Charles will be accompanied by Queen Camilla during the visit to Australia, scheduled for October to coincide with a trip to New Zealand, where Charles is also sovereign. However, Buckingham Palace has not officially confirmed King Charles’ plans.
