KP Govt Announces Eid ul Fitr Train Safari to Takht Bhai Relics

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KPCTA) has announced another train safari trip to the historic Takht Bhai relics during Eid ul Fitr on Saturday, April 13.

These archaeological sites from the Buddha-era have been designated as world heritage sites by UNESCO. The decision was made during a meeting chaired by Zahid Chanzeb, the Advisor on Tourism, Culture, Museums & Archaeology to the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister. Secretary of Tourism Muhammad Bakhtiar, KPCTA Director General Barkatullah Marwat, and Manager Events Hassina Shaukat were in the meeting.

Zahid Chanzeb stated that due to popular demand from tourists and heritage enthusiasts, KPCTA is organizing a guided train tour to the historic Takht Bhai Buddhist ruins. The aim is to promote religious tourism and showcase the rich history and heritage sites of KP. The train safari will depart from Saddar Cantt Railway Station at 9:00 AM, making sightseeing stops at Peshawar City Railway Station, Nasirpur, Pabbi, and Mardan before reaching Takht Bhai Railway Station.

During the tour, tourists will be briefed on the historic significance of the UNESCO World Heritage site and will have the opportunity to visit ancient monasteries within the Buddhism Archaeological Complex. This event aims to educate visitors about the traditions, culture, and religious importance of these relics to Buddhism followers.

Zahid Chanzeb emphasized the commitment to organizing more tourism activities to entertain domestic and foreign tourists and promote tourism in the province.

KPCTA DG Barkatullah Marwat mentioned that the authority is arranging this guided tour to highlight the heritage sites of KP and showcase the ancient history and culture of the region. Tourism Police will also be present to ensure the safety and enjoyment of the tourists.

Upon arrival at Saddar Cantt Railway Station, tourists will be greeted with traditional music performances before embarking on the journey to Takht Bhai. Throughout the excursion, participants will explore the remnants of the 1st Century A.D. Buddhist Civilization, showcasing the grandeur of ancient Buddhist monastic centers recognized by UNESCO as significant World Heritage sites.
