JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia is set to host a global forum to counter the propaganda and violence in media on Palestine cause next Sunday in Jeddah, Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported on Sunday.
According to the SPA, the international event is co-organized by the Assistant Secretariat for Corporate Communication in the Muslim World League (MWL) and the Union of OIC News Agencies (UNA).
MWL Secretary-General and Chairman of the Association of Muslim Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, OIC Secretary-General, Hussein Ibrahim Taha, and General Supervisor of Official Media in Palestine, Minister Ahmed Assaf will attend the event.
This event is taking place against the senseless crimes targeting religious symbols and sanctities under the pretext of freedom of expression, as well misinformation-driven agenda propagated and bias by certain international media outlets.
Major Islamic and international news agencies to attend event
Renowned religious scholars, major Islamic and international news agencies, intellectuals, legal and human rights activists, as well as leaders of international organizations will participate in the gathering.
The event will discuss different topics relevant to current issues including “Bias and Misrepresentation in International Media: The Palestinian Cause as a Model,” to identify the faults in media handling of global issues, particularly those of a religious nature, and to highlight the negative impact media bias on human societies.
The forum will formulate a joint international alliance against the threats of misrepresentation, bias, and the spread of hatred in the field media.
