Kuwait Ambassador Calls on PM, Discuss Bilateral Relations

ISLAMABAD: Kuwait Ambassador to Pakistan Nassar Abdulrahman Jasser Almutairi paid a courtesy call to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif on Tuesday.

The Prime Minister said Pakistan attached great significance to its deep-rooted and historic relations with Kuwait.

He thanked the Kuwaiti leadership, including Amir Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, for the warm wishes and felicitations on his re-election.

The prime minister expressed the desire to work closely with them to further strengthen the bilateral ties, with a focus on investment and trade. He also extended an invitation to Kuwait’s Amir to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.

PM Shehbaz Sharif noted with satisfaction that 7 agreements were signed between the two countries in November 2023, worth 10 billion dollars, relating to diverse areas including food security, hydel power, mining and minerals, technology, water supply and mangrove rehabilitation.

He urged concerted efforts by both countries to ensure early implementation of the deals. In this context, the premier stressed the role of the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) which provides an efficient and robust mechanism to attract foreign investment into Pakistan.

Ambassador Thanks Pakistan

The Kuwaiti envoy thanked Pakistan for its support to Kuwait in difficult times. He profoundly thanked former Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for his strong public support for Kuwaitis independence and sovereignty during the 1990-91 crisis.

The ambassador also expressed gratitude for Pakistan’s support to Kuwait during the COVID-19 pandemic. He reaffirmed Kuwait’s strong commitment to build closer relations with Pakistan.
