BISHKEK: Chief of the Information Policy Service at the President’s Administration, Dairbek Orunbekov, addressed misinformation circulating about the revised flag of Kyrgyzstan.

In a statement on his social media page, Orunbekov refuted claims spread by some citizens since the New Year, emphasizing that the flag displayed over Ala-Too square has 40 rays. He clarified that a photograph circulating where one ray appears missing is misleading.

According to the officially approved design, the Kyrgyzstan flag has 40 rays. Orunbekov urged those who may have been influenced by such manipulations to personally count the rays on the flag instead of perpetuating rumors.

The change in Kyrgyzstan’s flag design was endorsed by President Sadyr Japarov, who signed the corresponding law on December 22.
