Lahore Literary Festival in New York Showcases Pakistani Culture and Ideas

NEW YORK: The sixth edition of the Lahore Literary Festival (LLF) took place at the Asia Society in New York, serving as a platform for meaningful exchanges of ideas and showcasing the essence of Pakistani social fabric.

Consul General Aamer Ahmad Atozai, in his opening remarks, highlighted the historical empowerment of culture and its role in shaping national identity.

The festival featured engaging discussions on diverse topics, from cinema in Lahore to combating climate change and exploring the literature of Manto. Hosted by the Asia Society, the day-long event brought together leading writers, poets, artists, and scholars for enriching conversations and panel discussions.

Speakers included renowned figures such as Iftikhar Dadi, Sonal Khullar, and Saeed Naqvi, among others, covering a wide array of subjects. Consul General Atozai emphasized the LLF’s pivotal role in fostering cross-cultural understanding and dialogue, praising its diverse range of topics.

He extended congratulations to LLF founder Razi Ahmad, the Asia Society, and all involved in organizing the festival, commending their dedication to showcasing the richness and diversity of Pakistani culture. He underscored the global recognition of Pakistani music, from traditional Qawwalis to emerging pop artists, reflecting the resilience and spirit of the Pakistani people amidst challenges. The creative voices in Pakistan’s arts and media, according to Atozai, epitomize the nation’s ethos, embodying its spirit and diversity.
