Action Against Violation of Anti-smog Orders in Lahore

Meanwhile, on the instructions of Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa, the action was continued against the violation of anti-smog orders. Multiple trash-burning furnaces have been demolished for using old technology, while others were extinguished.

The Punjab Environment Protection Department also launched various initiatives to control smog, under which smog dissolution “weather generators” have been installed in the city.

EPD Director Naseem-Ur-Rehman Shah said that anti-smog generators were operating successfully in Dubai and Russia, adding a weather generator is capable of dissolving smog or a thickly polluted environment in a ten square kilometer area, APP reported.

The EPD director said that all possible steps, including generators, were being taken to control the polluted air. Short- and medium-term projects have been prepared in this regard.

He said that it was necessary to reduce the emission of harmful gases and use modern technology to control air pollution.

Moreover, the EPD’s anti-pollution squad sealed various smoky units in Lahore.

The anti-smog squad is also imposing fines worth millions on units and factories responsible for creating smog.
