Madam Noor Jehan Left Indian Film Industry for Sake of Pakistan

KARACHI: Madam Noor Jehan’s daughter Nazia Ejaz Khan has disclosed that Madam Noor Jehan left the Indian film industry only for Pakistan. She expressed these remarks during an interview. She recounted how she had expressed her resolve to return to her birthplace, leading her to establish the Shahnoor studio in Lahore alongside her husband.

Together, they spearheaded a transformative movement within the Pakistani film industry, where her contributions were immense.

Before this pivotal move, Madam Noor Jehan had enjoyed a flourishing career as a young actor and singer in India. Madam Noor Jehan, celebrated for her prowess in classical, ghazal, and playback singing, as well as acting, commenced her artistic journey in India as a child artist. She quickly rose to become one of the most sought-after young talents before the partition. In Pakistan, she lent her mesmerizing voice to countless hit Punjabi and Urdu songs for films, earning her the esteemed title of “Malka E Tarranum.”

Additionally, she received numerous civil awards in recognition of her contributions. Beyond her illustrious career, she was a devoted and nurturing mother to six children: Zil-e-Huma, Hina Durrani, Mina Hasan, Nazia Ejaz Khan, Akbar Hussain Rizvi, and Asghar Hussain Rizvi.
