Magnitude 5.5 earthquake strikes Iran

IRAN: An earthquake measuring 5.5 magnitude struck Iran’s Southern region on Tuesday, as per the German Research Centre for Geosciences (GFZ).

According to the GFZ, the quake was at a depth of 10 km (6.21 miles).

Iran is among most seismically active countries in the world, as a result, earthquakes are destructive and occur often in Iran. These earthquakes have killed thousands of people, and it has also led to waste of valuable natural resources. At least 126,000 fatalities have resulted in Iran from earthquakes in Iran since 1900.
