Malaysia, Pakistan Vow to Extend Cooperation in Diverse Sectors

RIYADH: Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Monday met with Malaysian Minister for Foreign Affairs Dato Seri Utama Haji Mohamad Bin Haji Hasan and reviewed the broad range of ties with a special focus on enhancing investment and trade ties.

According to local media, the meeting was held on the sidelines of the Special Meeting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) being held in Riyadh.  They agreed to hold the next round of Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) meeting in Islamabad during the current year.

In the Joint Ministerial Commission meeting, they will study the markets and take full advantage of the opportunities offered in diverse sectors for tangible economic outcomes, APP reported.

Ishaq Dar invited the Malaysian Minister for Foreign Affairs to undertake a tour to Pakistan, which he accepted.  Discussing the current humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip, the two sides also emphasized the immediate cessation of hostilities and called for providing immediate humanitarian relief to Palestinian people. They underscored closer cooperation within the framework of OIC for finding a peaceful and long-term solution to the Palestinian question.
