LAHORE: Newly Elected Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has expressed her dissatisfaction with traffic disruptions during her travels and has issued a directive for a comprehensive overhaul of the traffic management systems

Ahead of a significant meeting at the Secretariat, Maryam Nawaz voiced her concerns regarding the current state of traffic management, stressing the paramount importance of prioritizing citizen welfare. She instructed officials to ensure that citizens do not face undue hardships due to traffic interruptions.

During the high-level meeting, she held discussions with key officials, including Chief Secretary Zahid Zaman Akhtar, the chairman of planning and development, and the secretaries of health and finance, among others.

The newly elected Chief Minister received detailed briefings on the functions of various government departments. She emphasized her firm stance against any compromise on merit, stating unequivocally that there would be no political favoritism in hiring.

Maryam Nawaz also underscored the necessity of implementing preventive steps against diseases such as dengue and polio, while emphasizing the provision of high-quality healthcare services to the public.

She also announced a zero-tolerance policy towards non-transparency and instructed authorities to ensure the continuation of public utility projects in healthcare and other essential sectors in the province.

She expressed eagerness to resolve public issues promptly and stressed the importance of structural reforms to address problems at their core.

Acknowledging the dedication and integrity of government officers, Maryam Nawaz pledged her full support to those committed to serving the people. Accountability, transparency, quality work, and timely service delivery were identified as non-negotiable principles under her administration.

Notable figures present at the meeting included Pervaiz Rasheed, Marriyum Aurangzeb, Azma Bukhari, Sania Ashiq, the provincial chief secretary, Punjab Police inspector general, and secretaries from various departments.
