Mask Returns in US Cities After Spike in Covid, Flu and RSV Cases

CHICAGO: The face masks across US has been returned after the spike in new cases of Covid, Flu and RSV, Western media reported on Wednesday.

As per reports hospitals across America’s biggest cities have once again required staff, patients and other guests to wear face masks in order to stop the spread of COVID-19, the flu and RSV.

According to reports all public hospitals and city-run nursing homes in New York will bring back mandatory face coverings.

In Chicago, facilities associated with the Rush University medical system will also make masks mandatory for patients.

Ashwin Vasan, M.D., New York City’s health commissioner has told media that the cases of COVID, and flu are on the rise.

He added that cases of RSV have actually reached their peak and are on the way down, which is good news for adults and kids.

Most recent data published by the city’s health department revealed that 8,400 New Yorkers caught the flu during a week.

New York City has reported 1,402 new cases and 50 hospitalizations in its most recent COVID data. While in Chicago, hospitalizations linked to COVID rose to 13% during the week that ended on December 24, with 27 people hospitalized after catching the infection.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has also reported an increase in COVID deaths and hospitalizations during the week.
