BERLIN: In an extensive operation, over 350 German federal police officers conducted simultaneous searches across the nation on Tuesday, targeting migrant smuggling activities.

The focus of these meticulously planned raids encompassed cities and towns in the northern and western regions of Germany, extending to Bavaria in the south, according to reports from the German news agency DPA.

The enforcement actions resulted in the execution of five arrest warrants, with three arrests made in the northern town of Stade and two in the western town of Gladbeck. During the searches of apartments and other premises, authorities uncovered a significant number of migrants lacking valid residence permits.

These sweeping operations were initiated by federal police stationed at Frankfurt airport, based on suspicions of organized gang involvement and the commercial smuggling of foreign nationals, as reported by the German news agency DPA.
