ISLAMABAD: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman on Monday announced that his party would stage a protest march against alleged election irregularities.

Addressing the National Assembly on a point of order in the national assembly, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said that the JUI-F would organize protests in Karachi on May 2 and in Peshawar on May 9.

Rahman said that politicians have not been allowed to work independently due to which democracy in Pakistan had not been strengthened.

Emphasizing the foundational principles of Pakistan, he invoked the sacrifices made by ancestors in the name of Islam.
Fazlur Rehman highlighted the worsening economic and law enforcement conditions, particularly in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, lamenting the absence of accountability to address these issues.

Reflecting on historical movements like the ‘Azadi March’ during the subcontinent’s independence struggle, Rehman expressed regret over the enduring political, economic, and democratic setbacks faced by Pakistan.

He affirmed the constitutional right of all political parties, including the opposition, to stage demonstrations.

Syed Waseem Hussain of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-Pakistan) urged the government to address the challenges confronted by employees of the Hyderabad Electric Supply Company (HESCO).
