LONDON: Christian Horner, the Team Principal of Red Bull Racing, acknowledged the possibility of Max Verstappen departing the team, notwithstanding his contract extending until 2028. Allegedly, the three-time Formula One world champion threatened to leave amidst speculation of impending disciplinary measures by Red Bull.

Helmut Marko, Verstappen’s mentor, reportedly secured his advisory role within the team after discussions with Red Bull’s Managing Director Oliver Mintzlaff. However, uncertainties lingered concerning Verstappen’s future, with Horner indicating that the team would not enforce his contract if he chose to depart.

Concerns over the team’s stability arose from Verstappen’s father’s apprehensions regarding Horner’s leadership. Although an investigation cleared Horner of misconduct allegations, the elder Verstappen’s concerns persisted.

Previously, Max Verstappen maintained a neutral stance in response to his father’s remarks, emphasizing his focus on performance over team politics. His recent victory at the 2024 Saudi Arabian Grand Prix showcased his Formula One prowess, yet doubts regarding Red Bull Racing’s stability lingered due to his father’s comments.

Despite Verstappen’s neutrality, rumors circulated about a potential move to Mercedes, where his skills could be highly valued.
