ISLAMABAD: The Nullahs of the Rivers Chenab and Ravi are forecasted to experience medium to high levels of flooding, the Federal Flood Commission (FFC) said.

The local Nullahs of Northern Balochistan, including small rivers in Kohat, Bannu, and D.I. Khan Divisions, are expected to experience flash floods on 6 and 7 July, the FFC said in its bulletin.

The Indus River System’s (IRS) principal rivers flow regularly. The combined live storage of the three largest reservoirs in the country, Tarbela, Mangla, and Chashma, is 7.38 MAF or 54.90% of the total present live storage capacity of 13.443 MAF.

According to Flood Forecasting Division (FFD), Lahore, Northeastern Afghanistan, and surrounding areas still see the effects of yesterday’s deep westerly wave trough. Upper air cyclonic circulation was located over the Northwestern Bay of Bengal on Tuesday. Northeastern Balochistan is experiencing a seasonal low, with the trough of the low continuing northward.

Strong monsoon currents from the Bay of Bengal and the Arabian Sea were already reaching the highest reaches of Pakistan up to a height of 7000 feet at the time of the report, which is predicted to continue.

It is suggested that all relevant authorities be active, continuously check the weather and flood situation, and take excellent precautions to prevent any loss of priceless human lives and damage to public and private property.
