“Today, Microsoft has announced it is going to invest $2.2 billion over the upcoming four years to support Malaysia’s digital transformation — the single largest investment in its history in the nation,” CEO Satya Nadella said in a statement.

It said it would help to build Artificial Intelligence (AI) and cloud infrastructure in Malaysia, creating an Artificial Intelligence centre of excellence and giving Artificial Intelligence training to as many as 200,000 people in Malaysia.

Satya Nadella said that their investments in digital infrastructure and skilling will support Malaysian businesses, communities, and developers apply the technology to drive inclusive economic increase and innovation across the nation.

The CEO confirmed the investment, adding he was “really pleased” to announce the investment.  The promise comes following he announced a $1.7 bn investment in Thailand and Indonesia’s first data centre region this week to support cloud and AI infrastructure.
