NEW YORK: Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt, representing Utah, has resigned from her title, citing concerns about her mental health. The 24-year-old beauty queen shared the news on social media, expressing the importance of prioritizing one’s well-being.

Voigt took to Instagram to reveal her decision, stating, “In life, I strongly value the importance of making decisions that feel best for you and your mental health.” She acknowledged that resigning may come as a shock to many but emphasized the significance of maintaining both physical and mental well-being.

Throughout her tenure as Miss USA, Voigt championed various causes, including advocacy against bullying, raising awareness about dating violence, and supporting immigration rights and reform. As the first Venezuelan American woman to win the Miss USA title, she also celebrated her heritage and hoped to inspire others to prioritize their mental health and advocate for themselves.

Following Voigt’s announcement, the Miss USA Organization released a statement expressing gratitude for her service and affirming their support for her decision. They underscored the importance of prioritizing the well-being of titleholders and assured that plans for a smooth transition to a successor were underway.

Voigt’s resignation comes just months after she was crowned Miss USA in September, succeeding Morgan Romano of North Carolina.
