SRINAGAR, Occupied Kashmir: In a disturbing turn of events, the Modi-led Indian regime is strategically employing technology to instill fear and suppress any form of expression in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.

The regime’s army, paramilitary forces, police, National Investigation Agency, and State Investigation Agency are engaged in relentless cordon and search operations, creating an atmosphere of continuous oppression.

A recent report by Kashmir Media Service sheds light on the dire situation, describing how Indian repression has transformed the region into a living nightmare for its residents. The occupation regime has significantly increased restrictions and surveillance, especially following the unlawful actions in August 2019.

Since then, Kashmiris have been subjected to constant invasions of their privacy by the occupying forces, who use surveillance as a tool for intimidation. This blatant disregard for privacy rights has left the Kashmiri people living under a constant sense of threat.

Adding to their woes, the regime has equipped its police with GPS tracker anklets, further eroding the freedom of the Kashmiri population. This technology is used to monitor their movements and curtail their activities. Additionally, the police have been granted access to major social media platforms to closely track and suppress dissent against the unlawful occupation.

The situation in the occupied territory has deteriorated to a shocking extent, with killings, house raids, cordon and search operations, detentions, torture, and property seizures becoming the new normal. The month of October alone witnessed 17 deaths due to Indian bullets, pushing the grim toll to 96,263 since the conflict began in January 1989.

The people of Kashmir continue to endure escalating human rights abuses, and the world watches as their voices are silenced through the weaponization of technology. It is a pressing concern that demands international attention and action to protect the rights and well-being of Kashmiri residents.
